On my newly acquired '98 Voyager XII, the Clarion radio (PK-9090V) appears to turn on (the display backlight and all the buttons light up, but there is no actual display nor sound. Is there some anti-theft system after you disconnect the battery or something?

Any ideas appreciated.

Well the system has 3 fuses in it. 1 in the main fuse box 3-amp, and the 2 inline filters in behind the headlight. now if you replace those and still have nothing. Behind the headlight there are 3 relays mounted side by side. replace the relay farthest to your left with one of the other one to see if it is bad, if you find a bad relay then go to the Dollar for Dollar section on the AVA. Also make sure that the antenna and coax are secured and properly connected.

The radio may be in cassette mode. The mute button(s) may be pressed. The HS button may be pressed. Voulne may be all the way down. Best to read the audio manual and understand what the controls do. They are not like any other stereo you've owned and are not intuitive.

Breakthrough (sort of): My son (age 17) found the button marked "HS", on the right side under cassette, when depressed, got the radio outputting.

I still have, however, little to no display on the front panel. Oh, well...

There is a place here in Ohio that does repair the Voyagers Clarion radio. Sierra Electronics. You can find a link to their website from the homepage of this site.....

Sierra Electronics is usually in South Daytona at the mall on US1 during bike week. Forget the name of the mall but its on the west side near the Honda, Yamaha shop. Since you're in central FL. anyhow should be worth the trip. I'm going up Thursday or Friday to get headsets installed in new helmets.

Check to make sure the 3 amp fuse is good in the fuse panel under the fake gas tank. That is for the display.

I checked ALL the fuses on the bike, and they are all good.
