Chocolate Gravy

1 ½ cups milk

1 cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring

3 Tablespoons cocoa

3 Tablespoons s.r. flour

Dash of salt

¼ stick butter

Pour milk into skillet and start to warm, mix remaining ingredients together and add just enough water to make a thick paste. Add to warm milk, cook over medium heat stirring constantly until it begins to boil. Remove from heat when it is to your desired thickness. (It

will thicken slightly after removing from heat) Add butter, stir well. Serve with homemade biscuits.

I feel your pain, Greybeard!

When I was dating this girl in Texas, her parents were from Oklahoma (father) and Arkansas (mother). I thought they'd lost their minds when they suggested 'chocolate gravy' for breakfast!

First off, I'd never heard of anything called 'chocolate gravy' and was rather skeptical about it. But after giving it a 'fair shot', I found out that it was absolutely terriffic!

That was the only time I'd had it, because neither she or her mother would give up the recipe.
